Buzzer sounds awake awake Splash of water on my face
Morning coffee take a smoke Rising sun on the eastern slope
Blazing fireball fills the sky Clock is ticking seconds fly
Read the paper watch the news Too early for a shot of booze
Dogs are barking cats meow. Begging for some some breakfast chow
Car horns honking in the street Time is passing beneath my feet
Fry an egg make some toast Outside my window birds sit on a post
Off to work no time for play Thus begins another day
Drive to work phone calls await Heavy traffic makes me late
Punch the time clock eight o five At least I made it here alive
Office chatter numbers crunch Noon arrives cocktail lunch
Step outside smoke a jay Get me through this fucking day
Finally Monday is complete Jack-in-the-Box for a bite to eat
Evening sun sets in the west Glad this day is off my chest
Watch some TV grab a beer Bedtime drawing awfully near
Alarm clock's set the day is done Look forward to another one
