On a cold November day one of my heros was killed. On this anniversary of that sad occasion, I would like to offer up a short memorial to JFK.
OUR INDELIBLE PARADE
clop Clop clop Clop
Empty boots hang over his shoulder: a riderless horse approaches: his head bows as if he bears the weight of an entire nation.
The solemn clap of hooves rings out in muted applause : each beat resounding as one hand thrust against the empty sky : a rhythm sublime, yet heartbreaking. Pure beauty and splendor reflected against a wall of sadness...imprisoning our souls.... clop Clop clop Clop.... the sound eases our pain as it rises then fades while the majestic beast passes by.
Frozen breath of onlookers mingles with the sullen pall surrounding the caisson. This is our final caress
Fifty years have past and we still recoil from the punch that destroyed our Camelot.
Twenty one shots fired into the sky... each exponential unto itself. Each round reverberating into a pool....its waves never reaching a shore.
One eternal flame ...assurance that this chill cannot penetrate the warmth of our memory of this man.
This was our parade : our salute to ourselves.
This is our heritage...our indelible parade
