Greetings, beautiful community 🙏🏼

Saludos hermosa comunidad 🙏🏼

There isn’t a single day in my life when I don’t think of my mother. In everything I do, I’m reminded of how she might have handled things. While I often approach or resolve situations much the same way she would have, there are also times when I choose a different path—my mother and I were alike in many ways, yet we also had our fair share of disagreements.

Today, in particular, as I went to take a bath, I remembered how my mother taught me to do it. I recall one day—it was around 4:00 in the afternoon, and I must have been about seven years old—when she told me it was time for a bath. I hurried into the bathroom, splashed on some water and soap, rinsed it off, and stepped out wrapped in a towel. My mother immediately asked, "Did you take a bath? You didn't wash properly!" 🤭 She sent me right back in, handed me a soapy sponge, and instructed me to scrub my entire body. She insisted that this was the only way to get truly clean. From that day on, if I don’t use a bath sponge, I feel like my bath just isn't complete.

But she taught me more than just how to bathe properly; she also showed me the importance of discipline. She didn’t lecture me—not at all—she taught me through her actions. As a child, I was very obedient, but as I grew into a teenager, I sort of lost my way. I became a bit rebellious and, for a long time, lost sight of the value of discipline. Now, I realize just how essential discipline is for achieving the important things in life.

From her, I also learned about solidarity, loyalty, and kindness.
My mother was one of the most loyal women I have ever known—always faithful to the people who meant the most to her, even when those individuals didn’t necessarily deserve such loyal devotion. She was this way because loyalty was simply a part of who she was; it was woven into her integrity. That makes me feel so proud. She was also a woman overflowing with kindness, always ready to lend a hand; if it was within her power to help, Mom would never just stand idly by. 💕

An educated woman
Mom didn’t have a higher education—in fact, she didn’t even finish school. She used to tell us that she taught herself to read; her own mother never cared whether she got an education. Sometimes, Mom would go to school—at times even in secret—because my grandmother, who lived in the countryside back then, preferred that her daughter work the land, even though she was still just a child. Thank God my mother had the support of my grandfather, who helped her attend primary school. Yet, even though she didn’t pursue further formal education, she always taught me to say "thank you," "please," and "excuse me." I never saw her handle a conflict by shouting or using crude language; she could resolve a dispute or a disagreement with someone by speaking calmly, voicing her concerns without any noise or commotion. Through this attitude, she earned the respect of many.

Persevering, even amidst suffering
Well, who hasn’t suffered in life? Everyone has! Although some forms of suffering are deeper than others—I can recall very few times seeing my mother cry; I think she always wanted us, her children, to see that she was very strong. I did see her with tears in her eyes on several occasions, but that never stopped her—she kept moving forward, even in the midst of pain. A piece of advice she always gave my siblings and me was that it’s okay to cry for a while, but then you have to get back up and keep going, because remaining prostrate in one’s pain doesn’t solve anything.

Believing in God
Yes, believing in a higher being to whom we owe respect and obedience.
Although my own belief in God differs from the way my mother practiced her faith, the respect she showed toward God has been incredibly important to me. She felt—or rather, she firmly believed—that any good we do in this life would be rewarded by God in some way. 🙏🏼

Beyond that, I learned many other things from my mother: how to make stuffed animals, how to maintain a good sense of humor even in the worst circumstances, the importance of not taking what doesn’t belong to me, and how to serve others with love—among many other lessons.

That was my mother: a woman with a truly noble heart and a strong character, always in good spirits. That is how I will always remember her. I love you, Mom. ❤️

It has been three and a half months since she departed from this world, and I honor her memory by reflecting on the most beautiful aspects of who she was—her personality. I am forever grateful to God for the mother I had; I will always treasure these memories in my heart. 😔❤️🙏🏼

Thank you for reading and for your invaluable support. May the Creator bless you generously. 🙏🏼
