Yup, you read correctly, and it pains me to realize that its become normal for me to be working a lot these past 14 years. Its like a blessing and a curse at the same time.
WHATS THE LONGEST STREAK OF DAYS IN A ROW YOU HAVE WORKED??
I actually started in my field, of doing Sleep Studies about 14 years ago now. Polysomnography is the technical term. Just testing people to see how they sleep, but more importantly, how well the person is breathing during the night 馃寵
I started my first job at a private lab about 14 years ago. 4 years in approximately, in lets say 2013, i started at the place that im at now which is a hospital. I didnt want to let go of my original place yet, so i was doing both jobs full time because the newer place offered me a full time position. Since my original place was 3 12 hour shifts, and new place was 4 10 hour shifts I ended up being able to work 2 full time jobs for about 9 months before i gave up my original sleep lab.
Hopefully that doesnt sound too complicated. In that madness, i had a stretch of nights that lasted 42 in a row. A record that I set, that i was proud of, but also felt almost upset that the streak ended. It had ended because i got called off at one place because a lack of patients.
The same issue that just happened to me last night, here at work. We were expecting 3 patients total. This location is a 4 bed lab, and its me and a coworker. Because we only had 3 patients on schedule, it would have been an easy night for me as long as all 3 showed up, because it was my turn to just have 1 patient.
Well, 1 patient canceled, we are down to 2 patients, and therefore i technically have to leave early at some point. Thankfully there is extra stuff that i do such as order supplies so ive been dabbling for a few hours. Punched out early and im literally just hanging out at work cuz I aint got shit else to do lol.
Ill only be a few hours short on the day so i cant complain too much, now i get to make a post, complain a little, and engage with the Hive family once again.
