A Triple set, for #ttt, Triple Tune Tuesday. The Duck chooses DragonForce.
I shall lure you in with a story of me, with my original, first guitar. An Acoustic, made by Harmony. A basic guitar, not too special. A basic shape, no extra cutout. In good shape, and i have had it for about 18 years now.
At the time, being young and especially new to playing the guitar. I was not familiar with rock and metal. My Aunt was a professional musician. She played piano, violin, guitar, and liked to sing with her voice. When i was 18 at that time, the idea came about, that i could take some lessons and learn how to play. We practiced chords, and the bare basics but i was not that interested. We played along to mary had a little lamb and some other beginner songs. My guitar sat in the corner, growing dust. It was when i heard Metallica on the radio, and opened a new world to me.
A world where i loved new riffs, heavy or clean. Slow, or fast , licks and solos. And so a few years later, i learned of a band named Dragonforce.
Lets get a closer look at this guitar first though.
It is in slightly rougher shape than i remember, but it still sounds ok. Might need some new strings.
On to the 3 tunes...cheers to
DRAGONFORCE
- THROUGH THE FIRE AND FLAMES
This was the 1st major hit by Dragonforce on the album Inhuman Rampage. Featuring a pretty stacked band of about 6 people. Herman Li may be the most famous person, as he is a talented guitarist. This song embodies power metal. Chunky riffs, but also dueling solos. Funky moments, funky effects. Super speed, and the video is pretty funny at one point. When they duel later in the song, Herman also chugs a beer while his partner solos. Worth a watch, gives you all you need to know about this band.
MY SPIRIT WILL GO ON
This 2nd song, was from the album before the above song. So it is an older song, but i love this one. Starts off almost clean, building up. A little mystical, and then gets right up to speed. Love the riffs, the chorus, and the Solo is a real banger on this one.
HEROES OF OUR TIME
Now this song is just a little less familiar, but same formula. Just more refined in sound. This album was the 4 album i believe, so came after Inhuman Rampage. Hopefully my order here isnt confusing. Anyway, a decent tune, same wild speed.
Hopefully 1 of these songs resonates with your soul, at least for a moment. Like the strings of the guitar resonate.
......and Im out. Cheers to the next.
