You can also buy stuff in the shop, for example potions and packs when the sale starts I guess. Regarding being stuck I would suggest to concentrate more on getting to Bronze II and then do quests as secondayry target. I started the same way and tried to make all daily quests first but after trying to just win the battles first my win/lose rate got better. At least I am in Bronze II now and rewards get better there.
