A Special Guest at Ca' Paradiso 🐾🌳 Un ospite speciale a Ca' Paradiso
There are mornings that seem made to be remembered, and this morning was exactly one of those.
I found myself outside before the sun had fully taken over, with that still-soft light filtering through the branches of the old oak tree that has stood watch over the hill here in Cagli for years. The sky was streaked with high, thin clouds, almost painted by hand, and right behind the thickest branches the sun kept trying to break through, giving off those small flashes of light you only notice if you stop for a moment instead of rushing by. The hills of the Marche region, still wrapped in a light morning haze, stretched out toward the valley, with the farmhouse barely visible in the distance among the green.
It was on a morning like this that Anna, one of our guests, arrived together with her husband, straight from Padova. They'll be staying with us until Sunday, and from the very first moment they settled in as if they'd known this place forever.
Waiting to welcome them, as always, was our resident mascot: our Lagotto Romagnolo, two years old and full of energy, curly-coated and always ready to make new friends among the guests. Anna couldn't resist sitting down on the wooden bench near the entrance to give him a treat: standing on his hind legs, nose up and eyes bright, he won her over in seconds, just like he does with every guest who arrives here.
Then, true to habit, he was off again, patrolling the gravel path along the field, tail up and wagging, nose to the ground, making sure everything was in order for our new arrivals.
There's something lovely about watching him act as the "welcoming committee" every time: guests often arrive a little tired from the trip, and he always manages to bring out the first smile of the day.
We're looking forward to seeing what these days together will bring, between walks in the fields, shared dinners, and the easy conversations that come naturally when you feel at home somewhere.

Ci sono mattine che sembrano fatte apposta per essere ricordate, e quella di oggi è stata proprio una di queste.
Mi sono ritrovato fuori, prima che il sole prendesse davvero il sopravvento, con quella luce ancora morbida che filtra tra i rami della vecchia quercia che da anni fa la guardia sulla collina qui a Cagli. Il cielo era attraversato da nuvole alte, sottili, quasi disegnate a pennello, e proprio dietro i rami più fitti il sole cercava di farsi strada, regalando quei piccoli bagliori che si vedono solo se ci si ferma un attimo a guardare invece di correre. Le colline delle Marche, ancora avvolte in una leggera foschia mattutina, si stendevano verso valle, con il casale in lontananza che si intravedeva appena tra il verde.
È stato in una mattina così che è arrivata Anna, una delle nostre ospiti, insieme a suo marito, direttamente da Padova. Resteranno con noi fino a domenica, e fin dal primo momento si sono ambientati come se questo posto lo conoscessero da sempre.
Ad accoglierli, come sempre, c'era la nostra mascotte di casa: il nostro Lagotto Romagnolo, due anni di energia pura e pelo arricciato, sempre pronto a farsi nuovi amici tra gli ospiti. Anna non ha resistito e si è subito seduta sulla panca di legno vicino all'ingresso per offrirgli un premietto: lui, dritto sulle zampe posteriori, il naso all'insù e gli occhi vispi, si è conquistato le coccole in pochi secondi, come fa puntualmente con chiunque arrivi qui.
Poi, come sua abitudine, è tornato subito in perlustrazione lungo il sentiero di ghiaia che costeggia il campo, coda alta e mossa, naso a terra, controllando che tutto fosse in ordine per i nostri nuovi arrivati.
C'è qualcosa di bello nel vederlo fare da "comitato di benvenuto" ogni volta: gli ospiti arrivano magari un po' stanchi dal viaggio, e lui riesce sempre a strappare il primo sorriso della giornata.
Attendiamo con piacere di scoprire cosa porteranno con sé questi giorni insieme, tra passeggiate nei campi, cene in compagnia e le solite chiacchiere che nascono naturali quando ci si trova bene in un posto.
