Hello dear splinterlands community, I hope y'all having a wonderful Day 😁 and welcome to another Cantfoldaces's Hive Blog for this weekly battle challenge!
Today, we'll be talking about the Holy Protection battle ruleset, a totally defensive rule that adds extra protection to monsters against all damage:
Holy Protection
|
You know how annoying is to play against Lorna Shine. Every Type of damage is nullified, in addition to the 1st Earthquake Round, with the exception of Poison and Noxious Fumes rulesets.
One might consider this ability the closest to Void Armor
Since both teams does benefit from this extra protection, some key abilities are needed to gain the upperhand in this Ruleset:
- Blast
: A single hit can remove the Divine Shield from Up to 3 Monsters (The main & adjacent monsters) - Redemption
: More common on higher elo, when the monster with this ability dies, Deals 1 damage to all enemy monsters leading to the removal of ALL Divine shields - Reflection Damage: Thorns, Return Fire, Magic Reflect very effective if most monsters get their damage reflected!
Into The Battle!
I will be bringing a Wild Silver League battle, with the following rulesets:
- A mid Mana battle 31 Mana with ALL Elements Available with the exception on the Water
- Tis but Scratches adds more complexity to this battlefield by adding the Cripple Ability
So I had decided to go for this lineup:
| Card | Abilities | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Speed is really important in this ruleset to get rid as early as possible frm the Shield + Retun Fire to potentially break the shield from the Ranged Monsters | ||
| Shield | Since this ruleset provides extra protection, so why not put a very tanky monster with the Shield Ability | |
| Double Strike | One of the best counters to Divine shield, First strike would get rid of the Shield and the Second would hit the Health on the squishy last position monster | |
| Sneak | My highest Speed Sneak Monster that would be used to early break the divine shield on the last position enemy monster | |
| Sneak | It's very important to have most monsters focus on the same enemy monster, the reason we have 4 Sneak Monsters focused on the last position Monster |
Round 1
- Return Fire came in handy as Lira The Dark got her Archery Damage Reflected followed by Ruthless attacks from Dumacke Exile and eliminated by SilverShield Assasin
- Shield protected Chaos Knight from the Thorns Damage
- Wierding warrior Shatter broke Chaos Knight Armor and the latter was soon eliminated by Cursed Windeku
- Return Fire was key to getting rid of Wierding warrior & Soul Strangler Divine Shield
- Uraeus Eliminated Soul Strangler
NB: The combination of Shatter + Cripple led to the fast elimination of Chaos Knight
Round 2
- With no Divine Shield, Wierding warri or was soon eliminated by Dumacke Exile
- Uraeus gave the finishing blow to its mirror opponent
- Silent Shavi eliminated my Pelacor Conjurer that was put as a meat shield
- Stitch Leech villantly succumbed to the Thorns damage from Windeku
Round 3
Divine Shield benefited my team a ton:
- Protected SilverShield Assasin from the Thorns Damage, while it dealt enough damage to keep Windeku hanging with 1 HP
- Protected Dumacke Excile from the Silent Shavi Sneak attack (Cripple Damage still applies)
Round 4 (finale)
This was the end of this battle after the finishing blow from Uraeus resulting in my WIN and getting awarded with +0.15 SPS + +36 Rating
Tldr
If I may resume this battle, the key factors that lead to my win would be:
- The focus on Sneak Monsters that did target the Last position squishy Monster
- Return Fire helping to get an early rid of the Divine Shield
- Speed Advantage allowing to attack fast and having prio
If anything would be better is replacing Chaos Knight with Imperial Knight in case my enemy decided to got for the Magic Damage
