Back in the early days of steem, there used to be a marketplace where people could buy and sell stuff, and the currency was steem only.

If I remember correctly, a lot of silver bullion merchants used it to list their coins for sale. There were digital goods listed too. I think it died when the price crashed in 2018.

It might be an idea worth reviving - an eCommerce site priced in Hive would make this a real currency. You could start off selling Sainsburys gift cards on it and take it from there.
