Infrared Photography - My First Try

Where should I start? I became aware of this type of photography through @lichtkunstfoto. He also helped me choose the equipment and printed some parts for me on the 3D printer, for which I would like to thank him once again.
My IR equipment currently consists of a NIKON Z5 modified to full spectrum. The filters were removed from the camera's sensor for this purpose. Normal photography is no longer possible with the modified camera. I also bought an adapter for my Canon lenses. The one for some DIY filter inserts.

I set off with this handy camera to take my first infrared photos. It wasn't really a good time because there were no leaves on the trees at the moment. But it was sunny and I really wanted to try out my new equipment.

Of course, the images had to be post-processed on the computer. In Darktable, the color channels were swapped in the color calibration. Compared to light painting, where virtually no post-processing is required, the effort involved in IR photography is somewhat higher.

I found the first results very promising. So the next sunny weekend I went for another hike through the forest. This time I equipped the camera with a 16mm lens from VILTROX. Again I used the IR filter with 720nm.

So I hiked almost the same route as the week before and photographed the same spots so that I could compare the pictures directly afterwards.

I liked the results even better. Now I'm interested in testing all my lenses. I will also try out other filters with different wavelengths. I think there is still a lot of potential in this project before I get to light painting with invisible light. So stay tuned, I will report on it here.
