When our daughter first saw the bugs she squeal and recoiled from them but it didn't take her long to come around and dig her hands in to find everything hiding inside the bin. This search and play gives kids the opportunity to dig, discover, collect, sort, and work on their dexterity.
This bin includes magnifying glasses for exploring, scoops for moving beans, and tongs for capturing critters. Of course, when we let the kids lead, this bin can become anything. Sometimes the beans represent drinks or food and other times we're serving up frog stew.
If your kids are anything like mine, they might even pull up a chair and dunk their feet directly into the beans to feel the textures and explore the sensation of something between their toes.

While this bin was more expensive than the noodle bin, some of the components were split between other bins. We only used about one third of the bag of black-eyed beans in this bin. The rest of the beans will either go towards other sensory projects or a meal!
