It's time for a write-up about the Proof Of Brain project. I'm making an effort to not hype the tits off something before getting properly into it.
I've been using the POB tag and front-end almost exclusively for the past fortnight (I've made a couple of #CineTV posts as well using their own front-end), so I have been able to see the daily goings-on within my time zone pretty closely. I've also been following the market on Hive-Engine throughout the week although I only started trading in the last couple of days.
There seems to be a decent amount of interest in the POB project so far considering it has been out in the HIVE ecosystem for only a month. We can already see the effects of the curation snowball taking place on the accounts of first adopters and the market is seeing increases in activity from some regular daily sales.
The resistance that the token has against market accumulation is something that is going to be interesting to watch as more people stumble onto Proof Of Brain.
There are already discussions happening within the tag about how POB can stand out from the crowd with suggestions being made for tag categorization and mentions of the tag's generic nature being brought up.
This is from the STEEM bluepaper, under the heading 'Proof of Brain: Smart and Social Tokens':
Token systems that reward users as they contribute to a token-based community system require mechanisms for establishing and evaluating content’s social value: we call this “Proof-of-Brain.”
From my point of view, the name of the token and the project set a precedent for the overall niche that it falls into, or doesn't fall into. That's not to say that a more specific sub-section of the ecosystem can't be held by POB, just that the name gives the impression of a much wider choice of topics without any limitation.
There are disadvantages to this in terms of attention when taking other platforms into consideration since time is a valuable resource and splitting time between communities may not be in everyone's interest.
I'm still waiting to see where this is going before deciding to shout POB from the rooftops but the people within the community so far have been friendly and interesting so the wait for updates isn't bad at all.
