It looks like I am not the only one deciding to put a foot forward today. We've seen an increase of POB-related posts over the last week which is encouraging to see. Discussions are going on, ideas are being expressed, and progress is evident.

There was a post made yesterday by madstacks@madstacks (he's going to get a big head because this is the second day in a row I've tagged him lol), which not only proposed an idea for how development funds can be acquired but also confirmed that it is being put into action.

The short of it, for anyone who hasn't visited his post yet, is that an account has been made by proofofbrainio@proofofbrainio called pob-fund@pob-fund which will collect beneficiary rewards to help assist the development of the project. I'd imagine this will include interface development, marketing, inflatable brains in a future event, and so on and so forth.

There is an occasion of sorts (or more like a special day, like casual Fridays) that madstacks@madstacks has proposed to do weekly where members would set the beneficiary rewards on their POB post to 50% pob-fund@pob-fund. He's written an article here which demonstrates how to do this.

I think it's a great step towards strengthing the Proof Of Brain project but I also feel like it's something we need to receive more information about before jumping in with two feet.

I'm happy to set every POB post I make to 5% beneficiary, possibly even 10% depending on what follows. I post daily so I'm not overly concerned about dealing with a smaller portion of rewards at this stage when I also receive curation. With this being said, it isn't without strong caution being considered for a few things.

  1. The sale of tokens received by pob-fund@pob-fund
    - Sales of the tokens from pob-fund@pob-fund will create further opportunities for both good and bad market activity

  2. The roadmap and communication regarding the progress of the project
    - Knowing about the project and the plans regarding it is important for growth and confidence in said project

  3. Future handlings of post rewards by the proofofbrainio@proofofbrainio account
    - With the highest stake and gradual growth projections considered, how will sustainability from voting be attained given the nature and process of rewarding increasing numbers of POB users?

These things spring to mind when deciding to set up a percentage of earnings going towards the developing project which provides a portion of said earnings. Setting up something in the short-term is not a game-changer, but when considering the long-term more information is required.

The success or failure of POB is up in the air, understandably so, and it's going to take time for either one of these outcomes to become clear. My standpoint on either outcome is one of "whatever will be, will be" as I believe anything else is emotionally misplaced. We still do not know anyone here in the community well enough to confidently state what their intentions are, or will we ever be able to.

I'm intrigued and I want to support the growth of the platform in the little ways I can, while also being aware that following blindly is dangerous. That's pretty much all there is to it. Consider the big picture and seek out the right information to make rational decisions.

Hopefully, this wasn't fear-inducing in any way and seen as more of a possibility for discussion to arise. I don't think I'm the only one who has been burnt before.
