While most people look forward to another weekend, here I am still feeling the adrenaline rush and the freshness of wind on my face and of course, the evergreen beautiful landscapes when we had our road trip last weekend!
For us whose nature of work not only deals with teaching students but also managing the whole classroom with paperwork on the side which for me can be intense at times, unwinding on weekends or having an outdoor activity felt so therapeutic, especially if it is a long ride along the highlands.
I with my friends decided to go for a road trip to the highlands of Tuburan and explore its tourist attractions last weekend. We ventured to Marmol Cliff, and had a quick climb to Atabay peak, grabbed some hot coffee from the only coffee farm of Tuburan and the last destination was the soon-to-be Bamboo Tunnels of the town.
Despite Mr. Sun’s scorching embrace, I greatly enjoyed our rides along the long winding path! Like any of my road trips, I was smiling and felt so energized as I rode on the motorbike. Haha. I was like a happy kid riding on her first-ever bike!
Of course, I enjoyed our whole road trip, which I couldn’t remember how long. (And this is what I love about road trips I forget about the time and just go wherever the journey will take me. ) however, there was part of the rides that I felt the most rejuvenated where we passed views that held my breath away! And this was on our way to the coffee farm and the soon-to-be bamboo tunnel! Time stood still as I was surrounded by nature’s wonder.
I know my driver Jhon was amused by how I burst my random “Hooooo’s!” and “Yeaaaaaahhhh’s!” on every beautiful view we encountered! I think I get easily starstruck by nature compared to others (I guess), but hey, who can blame me? These views were just undeniably stunning and refreshing. Huhu. Ohh, Are you also like me? Who is unabashedly amazed by the world around us?

When locals say, “Let’s go to Tuburan 360” they mean the café on top of the mountains of Tuburan, and the beautiful views. Well, 360 is a good name especially since it perfectly captures the panoramic view of the mountains, but I’d rather call the place “Cloud 9, . . Tuburan Cloud 9” coz the place provides happiness and solitude to those who seek it.
On top one will surely be amazed by the seemingly never-ending mountain rolls! It will give you a satisfying feeling of how to be on top of the world. One time, my sister joked that the mountain tops of Tuburan are only one tiptoe apart from heaven. Haha.
I honestly wouldn’t get tired of taking this trip here over and over again because of the awe-inspiring views that these mountain tops offer.

We wasted no time and proceeded right away to our destination which was the Bamboo Tunnel.
I visited the place a couple of years ago and the bamboo shoots at that time were still young and short, I was pleasantly surprised at how fast they have grown and how lusher they have become in just a short span of time!
The bamboos with their uniform sizes and distance from each other beautifully adorned the path. I am imagining how possible it would be to form a tunnel out of this bamboo 10 to 20 years from now!
With its uphill and downhill road going in, we enjoyed riding towards the end of these Bamboo tunnels which is the open view that revealed the majestic mountains that surround us!
We parked our motorbike upon reaching the top hill where we saw the green and verdant mountains embracing us! It was scorching hot at this time that I could feel the heat biting my skin, but our laughter erased the heat away and all that remained was the refreshing green mountains.
So far, of all our road trips this is the particular view that felt like we could touch the mountains at our fingertips! Facing these majestic mountains, ai couldn’t help but feel both humble and great! Humble that I felt too tiny facing these giants, but great because I felt the goodness in one's feeling that this mountain is resonating.
We stayed there a little bit longer amidst the burning heat of the sun.
It’s amusing how a simple ride and the beautiful green scenery can make one’s weekend ordinary into something extraordinary, it simply wipes away the weariness of the whole workweek.
I wish I could have more of this kind of weekend. So relaxing and so refreshing with a thrilling touch of adrenaline.😎
