Nurturing My Inner Happiness

Like many others, I believe in traveling to certain places to relax and let go a little of the burdens that come with day-to-day responsibilities and tasks. In most cases, these are spontaneous trips without much planning beyond what’s necessary. This not only brings me happiness but also helps me see the true value of things—and that this value shouldn’t be tied to material possessions, but rather to recognizing that everything has its own time and place. If we’re talking about letting go for our own good, I think the first step is to avoid making our luggage a burden that’s hard to carry.

A few months ago, I traveled with a friend to an area full of beaches and mountains—two excellent settings for enjoying nature. My luggage? A small bag containing just a couple of shirts, a pair of pants, underwear, and an extra pair of shoes, in addition to my toiletries. To my friend, this was, to some extent, a bit irresponsible—especially when compared to everything he was carrying. It was like trying to pack his entire bedroom into his suitcases. The place we went to was quite rural, lacking the comforts of the city but offering something completely natural and different—exactly what you need to break out of that bubble we sometimes lock ourselves into from working so hard and just going through the daily grind.

From very little, I can gain a lot, which is why I try to make the most of every trip I take to nurture my mental and emotional well-being. I don’t usually take long trips or travel for extended periods, so I try to make these small breaks in my schedule—which I always prioritize highly. I like places that are far removed from the urban routine and as simple as possible. When my mind feels detached from the frantic pace of my weeks, it’s as if a soft melody begins to play, allowing me to relax. Reading a book or spending a pleasant afternoon listening to music are ideal scenarios that bring me true peace—small moments that bring me great happiness. I’ve also noticed that when I carve out this alone time for myself, I enjoy cooking or going for a walk even more.

There are times when I simply can’t escape my responsibilities, but I try as much as possible to treat myself to some free time at home—always with music as the common thread. I can spend an entire day exploring my favorite genres and artists without ever getting bored; on the contrary, I feel more motivated and emotionally rejuvenated. You could say that when I don’t have the chance to go somewhere special, I try to create my own atmosphere at home, with just a few things that bring me so much joy. I really appreciate those moments when it’s not so much what you think but what you feel—so naturally—that it becomes a great source of comfort.

The sense of fulfillment I feel after these moments is simply priceless, especially because I feel like I’ve nurtured and invested in something as important as my own happiness. It’s so profound that it might seem quite strange to many people, but the key is knowing that what I do doesn’t have to be outwardly flashy—rather, it’s the profound impact it has on my emotions, my feelings, and my outlook on life that matters most.
