This was a weird shoot.
It was my first ever shoot in Victoria, shortly after moving here. I was in a very, very deep creative rut. I had barely touched my camera in months since moving. I wasn't working, I had no clients, no motivation, no friends, no spark. It was miserable.
I was spending a lot of time on the computer. Telling myself I was "doing research." Creepin on Facebook, Instagram, etc., looking into local creatives- models, makeup artists, hairstylists, etc.- in hopes of putting together some shoots, maybe building some connections or relationships.
I met this gal who fancied herself a model/stylist/magazine editor. She offered to meet up for a very casual shoot where we met up in Chinatown and just went for a wander with my camera. It wasn't the most successful shoot I've ever had, but it got me moving again, and that made it important.
This was the only shot that I liked. She had stepped inside the lobby of a big Chinese restaurant, and I told her to lean against the glass door so I could shoot with the reflections.

Natural light. It was getting so dark already, and the lobby was very dark. I had my ISO jacked up and wasn't expecting the shot to turn out. It's certainly pretty noisy but I'm ok with it. Again, embrace the shots that aren't technically flawless or you'll miss out on some good photos!
