This day was a rough day. It was another spontaneous creative shoot with two of my favourites- Haely of DejaVu Model Management and makeup artist Zaheer Sukhnandan. The idea was to do a beauty shoot, concentrating on simple yet striking makeup, and Haely's unusual yet beautiful features. As I'm sure you can guess, she's adored for her eyebrows in particular, so we wanted to play with them :)
The only problem was that it was easily the hottest day of the summer in Kelowna that year.... if I recall correctly it was pushing 40 degrees that day. We had no A/C in our humble little studio so the makeup was not cooperating and we were all sweaty and frustrated.
So this shoot ended early and we all moved on. I squirreled the shots away on a hard drive for no particular reason. Over the last couple years since that shoot, I keep coming back to this shot, editing it a little bit, then putting it away. Then coming back again a couple months later and touching it up a bit again.
@yumyumseth and I were chatting briefly about going back and discovering the beauty that we may have missed in old photos. This is one of those cases where I finally decided to share this one with the world... unable to remember why I didn't like it enough to share it in the first place. Zaheer, Haely, and Haely's agent all loved it. I'm still unsure about it but I do like it enough to share it.
So here it is!
