SHOULD PHONES BE ALLOWED IN CLASSROOMS
Hello, #scifimultiverse family, happy new week. I welcome you to my blog.
Today’s world has been constantly evolving and fast-paced. In that same vein, technology has continued to evolve non-stop. Companies, schools, and churches have continued to adjust to move with the trend, making changes where necessary to fit in.
The phone has become a major tool of communication. This includes the four forms of communication: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This means that the phone has become a major companion and tool of learning.
The use of phones in the classroom can be helpful or damaging to students; this is because phones can help students do their assignments after school for those who stay for extra classes. Again, it will grant students quick access to answers and files that may assist them in learning and developing skills that will boost their knowledge as they progress in their academics.
However, it may also be very distracting if there are no policies, rules, or regulations regarding phone use at school. It may lead to heavy usage and addiction, which may lead to brain drain and underperformance of such students.
To strike a balance, students may be allowed to bring their phones to school, but a cloakroom should be provided where those phones are kept until students are permitted to use them. There should also be clear rules, terms, and conditions that guide the approval and permission to use those phones.
Heavy Phone Usage
Furthermore, the policies would be signed by the students' parents or guardians for reference and to facilitate quick conflict resolution if any arises. This would also be clearly communicated and reiterated during parents-teachers association (PTA) meetings, onboarding new students, and other engagement times to ensure strict adherence to and enforcement of the policies around phone usage.
That way, everybody will be on the same page, nothing missing and nothing broken.
