DEALING WITH REJECTION
Hello #Scifimultiverse friends, Happy new week. The topic for this week is a vital one in our lives as individuals and family,
Rejection could be defined as not selecting or approving someone or thing. It may be a living or non-living thing. We have heard job seekers say they applied for over one hundred jobs and kept getting rejection letters until one clicked. Again, sometimes, employees will make leave or loan request and get rejected. Other times, rejection may happn in a relationship especially when a man is about to settle down with his female counterpart and seeks for the persons hand in marriage and get rejected. These and other examples may suffice for now.
Why Rejection/Causes of Rejection
First, rejection may be as a result of carelessness and unseriousness towards our set goals. In the case of job applications, if a candidate does not pay attention to salient things they ought to do while applying, they might miss the opportunities even if they apply one hundred times. The same thing may be applicable in other areas of life.
Second, the act of God, Just like the saying, "Man proposes and God disposes". Sometimes, we may be pursuing a certain opportunity, while it has been designed in another way for us. We will do everything within our power to get those things while most times it will continually slip out of our hands. We will continue to say things like "we merely missed it" not knowing it is an act of God. Somehow, we will be pushed away from those opportunities through continuous rejection and pushed into the right track destined for us, at that point, we will realise that those rejections were for a better path designed for us.
My Story
Once upon a time, I sought for a job in a company I felt was doing well and kind of aright choice for me not knowing that they were struggling for survival. My sister used all her connect there to get me interview appointments and each time I won't be shortlisted for the final or even selected for the job. Several times, I got to thee finals and kept wondering why I'm not selected for the job.
At some point, my sister encouraged me to move on with other interviews and forget about the company which I gladly accepted but each time I pass through that place I continue to eye the company. One day, after a long time, something took me to that area and I noticed that the gate and surroundings were not busy as before, I asked people around and was told that the company has shut down activities in my country of origin because of unfavourable business environment and other issues. I got home that day, knelt beside my bed and thanked God for saving me from that loss.
How I handle Rejection
From that moment, I learnt to handle rejection better, once it is beyond my control, I take it as it comes. I keep all options open and never insisting again that it must work out by fire or by force. Ilet go things and situations that are not under my control while I always tak a deep breathe at things and circumstances, give them a second thought and move on where necessary. After all they said that " A living dog is better than a dead lion".
