Relationships -
Hello #qccommunity friends, how are you doing today? Happy Tuesday. Relationships can be romantic, business-based, family, friendship-based, or even casual. A relationship is a bond between two or more individuals based on shared goals, responsibilities, plans, experiences, or communication.
I think society favours married people because, several times, I have seen situations where they were given preferential treatment. For example, when sharing things, married people are given preference over single people, whether they are in a romantic relationship or just single. Once they are not married, they are treated differently, especially where I reside.
Sometimes, I think there is a level of respect given to married people in society, which most often puts single people or those in a romantic relationship under pressure to get married. The other day, we went to an event. At the peak of the event, they started sharing some items, and to be candid, only the married couples were considered. When I looked around, I noticed that even some of our single staff at that event were not given those items.
At the end of the event, they came around our table and whispered in my ear that it seemed they escorted us because they weren't considered good enough for the gift. So, I jokingly told them to go and get married. We cracked jokes on our way back to the office and laughed over it. However, that kind of segregation can pressure the singles to get married even though it may not be the right time.
As for me, my family never pressured me to settle down; however, seeing my friends' status change from single to married and hearing wedding invitations read in my church often pressured me. It happened naturally and at the right time, and my family was never too pushy about it.
Finally, everyone’s destiny and timing are different. Hence, it is understandable that some form of segregation in society puts singles under pressure; we should remain focused on our respective status, as being single does not define who we are, but rather our personality and traits define us. Marriage is for prepared minds; hence, no amount of pressure should push one into a marriage that is not well thought out and planned.

In the end, when the time comes, that single person will get married, but if they rush into marriage without being fully prepared, they will still rush out and start the second adventure of being single, which may be a peg in the eye for them and a worse situation.
