DOES SUCCESS COME FROM LUCK OR HARD WORK
Hello #scifimultiverse, I trust your day is going well. I welcome you to my blog.
Success can be defined as an individual or business achieving set goals and objectives. However, success today does not guarantee success tomorrow or forever. What guarantees success is concerted, intentional, and consistent effort towards opportunities. It's no wonder people always say that when preparation meets opportunity, the result is success.
On the other hand, hard work is defined as steady efforts toward set goals and objectives regardless of the obstacles and challenges one may encounter in pursuit of success.
Conversely, luck can be defined as opportunities that happen unexpectedly and may lead to success.
From these three definitions, hard work and luck will lead to success when individuals prepare and strategically position themselves for opportunities. For example, in my previous workplace, we used to outsource some activities, like the yearly feasibility study of the business and the retreat, to consulting firms that bill us heavily for that.
At some point, my team and I decided to get certified in those fields; I went for business analysis, while another went for accounting certifications. That time was tough because we combined the training with full-time work, but we endured the hard work and pain while we prepared and positioned ourselves for the opportunity.
Boom, the consulting opportunity came up. I spoke to the board about our preparedness to do the job. The board unanimously accepted our proposal after scrutinising our certifications, competencies, and capabilities. We confidently carried out the task, got recognised and rewarded by the board. We became internal consultants from that day till I exited the organisation.

If my biggest opportunity comes tomorrow, I will make sure that I am prepared, physically, competency- and skill-wise, to meet the needed requirements to nab that opportunity without giving any excuses for failure or missing that opportunity, because sometimes opportunities come only once.
Finally, success is the combination of luck, hard work, and opportunity. Without hard work, when an opportunity comes up, one may lack the skills to nab it. Conversely, when one consistently works hard, learns, and unlearns, chances are that luck will smile on the person with opportunities and, with the level of preparedness, the individual can turn such an opportunity into a success story.
