Hive Open Mic ( #openmic ) is a virtual music stage, giving musicians a chance to freely share their music with an appreciative audience.
Hive Open Mic Week 3 included artists of diverse cultures and languages, exploring the theme: "Open Path." We heard an awesome instrumental duet featuring two musicians from two different locations, showing one way that technology can effectively keep bandmates performing together during the social distancing wave. We also heard superb songs in the Spanish and Aceh languages, complete with English translations to meet the audience as we are. One love!
"Open Path" is the sound wave we made together, journeying one way or another. Today I have the pleasure of sharing the highlights. Thanks to the musicians who brought their soundscapes to the stage, and thanks to the music fans for their kindhearted upvotes and applause. I am thankful for each and every individual who is making this event so meaningful.
To me, the week's standout performance is 
@rezasofyanThis song ties in nicely with the theme, "Open Path," through the imagery of walking uphill into the future side-by-side. For me personally the song itself opens pathways in the mind, imagining a part of the world that's new to me. Through conversing with the songwriter here, I learned that English is not commonly spoken in Indonesia, but we have the good luck of knowing a solid translator—turns out
I think teaching is the occupation I admire most. Lately, I've been curious about the teaching occupation throughout the world, with its coronavirus repercussions, and so it saddens me to hear that
It really excites me to see the encouragement from this songwriter's audience. His post earned a wonderful payout, and he deserves every Hive penny. He's a bright, cheerful spirit, making an excellent impression on the world. I hope he will continue to sing and write, and carry his songs with confidence and courage, reflecting the sentiment of Gandhi: "Be the change you wish to see in the world."
@kantosThis performance is the first collaboration of the Hive Open Mic event. I'm happy to see this happen, at a time when the music industry is negatively impacted by social distancing. Artists must adjust! To me, this video proves that the music can be expressed and felt across all distances, and music draws people out of isolation, and music creates connection... and it makes me hopeful that music will continue to bring people together to share the heart vibration. Wonderful to see this good example of a synchronized jam session where music and technology join forces.

This is a stellar song, a sparkly performance, and a special way of connecting with the "Open Path" theme: one path is accompanied while the other is a solo journey. Reminds me of the U2 song, "With Or Without You." I'm grateful to our Spanish-speaking participants in this week's Hive Open Mic, introducing us English-speaking folks to these fantastic songs and musicians we might've otherwise missed.

@cabelindsayTo me, this song carries the energy of wild horses, as an expression of freedom. This song fits the theme, "Open Path," with the imagery of running as a wild horse as free as the wind. This song arrived in my life during a 5-day journey in the Texas Hill Country a year ago, and it continues to move and shape me as I explore what freedom means to me.
Hive Open Mic showcases Hive's wildly imaginative and gifted musicians. I appreciate these people for stepping up to the microphone with something special to say. This a true act of courage, and it deserves to be applauded, and rewarded.

Each performer also earned tips individually, through the upvotes they received from their posts. All participating musicians and music fans benefitted through the expressions and the connections generated here. While it's impossible to define the total value of the gifts given in the Hive Open Mic, we can see that the energetic exchange is immense. I am grateful. I am proud of us.
I mentioned that the U2 song "With Or Without You" came up during one of our conversations within this week's open mic event. The song was the U2's first #1 hit in both the U.S. and Canada, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks, and ranking #132 in Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. To me, Hive Open Mic is a wonderful contribution to the Hive platform as a whole. It serves as a chance to practice being in harmony with the world. In my opinion, sharing harmony is our Work, with a capital "W", and this is what Hive is all about. I am honored to be here, seeing this Hive humming and buzzing.
