It’s the end of 2022, and start of another New Year - 2023. And to be honest I am pleased to see the back of 2022, which on the whole has been a wretched year plagued with problems and illness.
But let’s not dwell on the past, Christmas went quite well, I have managed to get some time off work - although I never really leave as there is always something to do remotely even if I am not physically in the building. Having built a new Windows 11 pc for the office staff so their old one which was also the accounts package server - can be retired to just be a server. Story on the build to follow - it’s another one of my interesting buy bits on a budget and throw them together tales.
And with a new phone system installed at work last week, I finally managed to upgrade the warehouse label printing pc to Windows 10 - it had mostly been stuck on Windows 7 because it had the phone system database on it - which is a horror to set up so I avoided the problem because it all just worked. Anyway with that no longer needed, I brought the pc home to work on a complete wipe and fresh install - which took far longer than expected. So many issues with Windows Media creation tool failing, not even opening on the Windows 7 pc and in the end I had to download a Windows 10 iso and burn it with Rufus - even then the installer gave up half way with an error - two attempts with that iso eventually used my Mac to download the ISO from Microsoft (they at least realise Media Creation Tool can not run on Mac so give you physical iso download links instead) and burn that one which finally installed Windows 10.
Meanwhile the orders have been stacking up since we closed, I managed to ship some orders during the week but there is still a whole load to get started with when we are back working as normal on Tuesday.
