With the opioid crisis being what it is Penn Medicine and Penn Vet schools conducted a study hoping to prove veterinarian medicine is not a contributing factor to only find that it is one. Instead of owning up to their part in it the authors of the study decided instead to make excuses for the massive increase in opiate prescriptions being written. One reason why they did this might be the fact that it was vets who were the first sources of Fentanyl when heroin dealers started cutting their product with it. Which they managed to come out of almost completely unscathed from.
In this video we take a look at just how much of an increase was seen in vets prescribing opiates, the excuses being made for it, along with the impact it has had on some pets in the process, including abuse.
