Hi, welcome to my exploratory sketches of different body parts. Here, I explore variations of poses, body shapes or types. These sketches accompany the main studies which establish the basics.
I am exploring what kinds of landmarks and shorthand lines that I can use to suggest the musculature around the lips. Above the mouth, maybe straight vertical lines:
Also, the engaged cheeks on the side help the viewer understand that mouth is being pulled upwards and sideways by the different muscles under the cheeks.
Can my shadows show the lighting on the four "orbiting" muscles for the lips themselves?
