It's important to remember that the Down Vote on YouTube is to let YouTube know that the Down Voter doesn't want this content suggested or recommended to them. As far as creators its metrics for us. The perception is that Dislike is an indicator of the creators work, but the reality is that it lets YouTube know what not to suggest or recommend to someone.
