A few weeks ago I got a Facebook invite to attend an Introduction to Transcendental Meditation meeting. It seemed like something right up my alley so I signed up.
I went to the meeting today and found it pretty interesting. The teachers gave us a brief overview and history, as well as some known benefits of TM and a general idea of how it's practiced. Being someone already prone to believing in “that kind of stuff”, it was pretty easy to get me on board with wanting to try it.
But then there is the price. It’s $960 for the 4 day course. I’m not against paying for the course, as I know the teachers and organization deserve compensation, and the potential benefit for the rest of my life could probably be worth it. But at the moment, it’s about $900 more than I’d be able to comfortably spend.
Here is where it gets a little fun though. In speaking with the teacher afterward and telling him I’d have to wait a few months to save up the money, he offered to send me a scholarship application. I of course said, “Thanks! Yeah, that’d be great.” Then he said, “Who knows maybe you’ll get a windfall and it’ll happen sooner.” Windfall! He just said “windfall”! I use this word constantly when thinking positively and attracting what I want into my life. When he said that, I got that little feeling in my stomach, you know the one. The, “what’s going on here, it’s more than a coincidence, how the hell did he know that!” feeling. And there was something about the way he said it too…
Now I can’t say that in the last hour since the meeting I’ve received said windfall, but I did buy a lotto ticket on the way home! :) So now, we’ll wait and see. In the meantime however, I am really interested in hearing people’s own experiences with Transcendental Meditation. I don’t know a single person (IRL) who has tried it that I can ask. If you have any input, please, lay it on me!
Thanks, Buzz
