It Is Easy to Judge When You Do Not Know the Whole Story
It is easy to judge someone when you are not in their shoes. It is easy to say, "I will do it differently," if you have never been on the battlefield. It is easy to say you will win when you have never competed in your life.
I often see some children saying they will never forgive their parents because of how they were treated. However, most of these children only hear one-sided stories. They do not hear from both sides involved.
Most times, it is the mother who poisons their minds. You will hear statements like, "Your dad abandoned you. I bought everything for you. I am the one paying your school fees." And yes, the children indeed saw all those things, but sometimes, what we see is not always the whole truth.
Sometimes, there is a father behind the scenes, working day and night just to make sure the family is okay. He provides the money that the mother takes credit for.
The one who abandoned you may have fought for your custody, but the mother refused, with the intention of using the child to extort the father. He then has no option but to let go.
For those who say their parents were irresponsible and that they did not turn out like them, you should also remember that you may have learnt from their mistakes. Sometimes, the reason why you choose to do things differently is because you saw what they did wrong and decided not to follow the same path. You may be doing better than they did, but that does not mean you should completely disregard the lessons their mistakes taught you.
Moreover, I believe that even when our parents are wrong, they deserve a second chance. It is their first time being parents, too. Most people hold grudges against their parents until they become parents themselves. Then, everything starts becoming clear to them, but unfortunately, most times, it is already too late, and their parents are already gone.
When our parents realise their mistakes and try to come back, we should not push them away. It might be too late to fix their errors, but we must always remember that they brought us into this world. We can never fully pay off that debt.
