We are going to meet different people in life. We should not always expect those who gave us good memories to remain the same if we end up departing and meeting years later.

Those few years we were not with them, we do not know the kind of life they have lived, their experiences, heartbreaks, pains, and whatever happened in their lives.
This is why we should always keep it in mind that our childhood friends are no longer the same people we were friends with if we later meet them again in life.
I did not understand this on time, but the older we get, the more certain things become clear.
I had 2 close friends when I was in secondary school. The moment we were done with school, the friendship died a natural death. I have one of them on WhatsApp, and we only view each other's status.
We chatted last year after more than 11 years since we last chatted, and this was because I replied to one of his status updates. It was purely about the status, with no friendship vibes.
I understand that a lot has happened in our lives since we departed 15 years ago. I am no longer the person he knew back then, and I am sure he is also no longer the person I knew. We were still very young then, with no responsibilities and without having experienced much in life.
It is totally different now, and we do not need to force vibes just because we used to be so close back then.
At some point in life, I always longed to see my childhood friends. I mean the very first set of people I grew up with. There were three of them. I only remember their names and not their faces because we departed when I was barely 3 years old, but I still remember their names.
But later, when I grew older, I stopped longing for that because I knew they would never be the same childhood friends I remembered.
Moreover, maybe I am even the only one who remembers, because I even feel it is weird that I remember some of the things that happened when I was barely 3 years old.
People change people.

A good person can suddenly stop being good because someone takes him for granted or because some people use him. Unfortunately, it is not only the bad people who will suffer the consequences. The good and genuine people will also suffer from it because they may start changing towards everyone.
Maybe their family could be an exception.
Someone once complained to me that his friend changed towards him and others after his first year in university, and my reply to him was that maybe he was never their friends.
I knew them, and they were more of a group. The guy who went to school was always being mocked by the others. They always looked for an opportunity to make a jest of him. Even though it hurt, he bore it because they happened to be the only people he could walk with at that time.
Fortunately for him, he gained admission into school while the others did not. He met new people who treated him right, and he decided to discard those who called themselves his friends yet mocked him at every given opportunity.
They thought he changed after he gained admission, but it was a change that was long overdue because he was never respected in that circle of friends.
So again, people change people.
