Most mainstream media pundits and Wall Street analysts regard cryptocurrencies as speculative vehicles. That is, they wouldn't recommend bitcoin or other blockchain assets as integral parts for your retirement planning. For that, Wall Street pushes the 401K, the ubiquitous retirement portfolio that's all the rage in corporate America.
While that sounds like the safe approach, it certainly isn't the most shrewd. Unlike bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, you have very little control over your 401K plan. Sure, you typically have benefits, such as corporate matching up to a certain percentage of savings that you don't get with blockchain assets. However, cryptocurrencies give you unquestioned control over your account. You cannot say the same about the 401K.
Indeed, the 401K is one of the biggest con-jobs ever pulled off by Wall Street. If you wanted to rebalance your retirement portfolio, you are limited in the number of times you can do this. That's pretty outrageous, considering that this is supposedly YOUR 401K plan, not anyone else's! If freedom and control over your own assets is what you wanted, you're not going to get that in a 401K.
Furthermore, most 401K plans are extremely conservative, and you won't usually receive substantive annual returns. Instead, it's a waiting game, letting the "compounding magic" do its thing. I don't know about you, but I don't have time to wait around passively for compounding interest to do something real with my retirement portfolio.
Cryptocurrencies and the blockchain, on the other hand, provide the catalyst for extraordinary returns in a relatively quick time frame. They also give you total control over your assets. There's quite simply nothing on earth like it, which is why so many people turn to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as legitimate components of retirement planning.
