Excellent write-up! It's funny how history doesn't always repeat itself, but it often rhymes.

We went away from silver and gold because it was easier to exchange paper IOUs that could be exchanged for silver and gold. Then we eliminated the silver and gold, and people lost trust in the paper, so they moved to crypto. Believe it or not, now there is silver and gold-backed crypto you can redeem for precious metals. Even the !PIMP H-E token has some silver reserves backing it!
