Happy Sunday, Splinterlands and Hivers community! Welcome to the first part of this series where I'll be exploring the reward cards from the Conclave Arcana set. To be honest, it took me way too long to get to the point where I bought my first reward epic cards from the Glints store. But considering I started with practically just a handful of rare Conclave Arcana Archons at level 1, a few common and rare core cards from starter packs, and the Rebellion reward cards, which were at a decent level but whose full potential I couldn't utilize because of these Archons, I had to backtrack and start building my Foundations deck in Frontiers.

Bienvenidos a la primera parte de esta serie donde estaré explorando las cartas rewards de la edición Conclave Arcana, la verdad es que tarde demasiado en llegar hasta el momento de comprar mis primeras cartas épicas rewards en la tienda de glints, pero considerando que comencé prácticamente con un puñado de arcontes Conclave Arcana raros en nivel 1, unas pocas cartas core comunes y raras de packs starter y las las cartas rewards Rebellion que si estaban a buen nivel pero que no podía aprovechar todo el potencial por estos arcontes, tuve necesariamente que dar marcha atrás y comenzar a construir mi mazo de cartas Foundations en Frontiers.

That initial phase of starting with Foundations cards, while it took me a significant amount of time, once I got those Archons to level 4, allowed me to better complement my strategies in the Modern format and begin climbing the leagues. I'm currently in Gold League I. Last season, I finished in Diamond League III, accumulating enough glints to buy my first epic reward cards, which you can see below. Each one has unique stats and abilities that offer new possibilities and strategies, so in this series, we'll be exploring each of these cards and how far we can take advantage of their potential from level 1.

Esa fase de comenzar con las cartas Foundations, si bien me tomó una gran cantidad de tiempo, una vez que llevé esos arcontes a nivel 4 pude complementar mucho mejor mis estrategias en el formato moderno y comenzar a escalar en las ligas y actualmente ya estoy en la liga de Oro I. La temporada pasada terminé en la liga de diamante III, acumulando los glints suficientes para comprar mis primeras cartas rewards épicas que puedes ver abajo, cada una de ellas tienen estadísticas y habilidades particulares que ofrecen nuevas posibilidades y estrategias, por lo que estaremos explorando en esta serie cada una de estas cartas y hasta donde podemos aprovechar su potencial desde el nivel 1.

I don't know if I can reach Diamond III again this season. I haven't been playing much in Modern ranked, but it's not because I've been tired of playing. I've already bought my first legendary Dragon Archon, Dragonlord Mancer, and I'm exploring the potential strategies this card offers by comparing it to other cards in its lineage and then buying them on the market. I've spent countless hours scouring the market, trying to acquire Saurian and Bruteborn cards to build effective lineups with this new Archon. In that time, I've only had the chance to explore two of the epic cards I've gotten: Voss and Wailsworn Specter, from the Fire and Water classes respectively. Let's see what these epic cards we've just added to our deck have to offer. Let's begin!

Ignoro si pueda llegar nuevamente a diamante III esta temporada, casi no he estado jugando en el ranked moderno, pero no es porque haya estado cansado de jugar, sino que ya he comprado mi primer arconte legendario dragón, Dragonlord Mancer, y estoy explorando las potenciales estrategias que esta carta puede ofrecerme desde el punto de vista de las cartas con los que comparte linaje y a partir de alli ir comprándolas en el mercado. He pasado largas horas explorando el mercado tratando de conseguir cartas Saurian y Bruteborn para armar alineaciones efectivas con este nuevo arconte. En ese contexto solo he tenido la oportunidad de explorar 2 de las cartas épicas que me han salido: Voss & Wailsworn Specter, de las clases fuego y agua respectivamente. Vamos a ver entonces que pueden ofrecernos estas cartas épicas que acabamos de incorporar a nuestro mazo. Comencemos!

Let's start with the Fire class. Interestingly, I used this class constantly at first, particularly with the rare Archons from the starter packs, and my strategy was a melee lineup. Then, with the Foundation Archons, my favorite classes became Earth, Death, and Water, leaving the Fire class behind. So far, I only have two epic Conclave Arcana cards, and that's because I'm starting to buy Dragon and neutral cards. Next, I'll focus on Life and Land, and only after I've finished upgrading those cards will I start buying the cards and the legendary Fire Archon Core Conclave Arcana. But let's look at the characteristics of this card to see what we can do with it.

Comencemos por la clase fuego, curiosamente al principio utilizaba esta clase de forma constante, particularmente al principio con los arcontes raros de los pack starter y mi estrategia era una alineación melé. Luego con los arcontes Foundation, mis clases favoritas fueron tierra, muerte y agua, dejando en el olvido la clase fuego. Hasta ahora solo tengo 2 cartas de Conclave Arcana épicas y esto es porque estoy comenzando comprar cartas Dragón y neutras, luego seguiré con vida, tierra y solo cuando termine de upgradear esas cartas comenzaré a comprar las cartas y el arconte legendario Core Conclave Arcana de fuego. Pero veamos las características de esta carta para ver que podemos hacer con ella.

Okay, Voss is an epic Spell card, the first one we have of this rarity, since the second one I have is Molten Elemental, which combines melee and ranged attacks. It's another Spell unit for our Fire deck, but it has the advantage of a low mana cost, ideal for battles with the Little League ruleset. It also has the Bloodline Tribute ability. This ability acts almost like the Martyr ability, but with the difference that it increases the stats of cards that share the same bloodline. In the case of damage, they must match; that is, you must make sure you have units of the same bloodline and the same damage type if you want to boost it once this card is destroyed in battle.

Bien, Voss es una carta épica de magia, la primera que tenemos de esta rareza ya que la segunda que tengo es Molten Elemental que combina ataques melé y rango. Es otra unidad mágica para nuestro mazo de fuego pero cuenta con la ventaja de un costo de mana bajo ideal para batallas con la ruleset little league y además tiene la habilidad Bloodline Tribute, esta habilidad actúa casi como la habilidad martyr pero con la diferencia que aumenta las estadísticas de aquellas cartas que comparta el mismo linaje y en el caso del daño, deben coincidir, es decir, debes asegurarte que tengas unidades del mismo linaje y el mismo tipo de daño si quieres potenciarlo una vez que esta carta sea dada de baja en la batalla.

This card's low speed and health make it an easy target for opportunistic units or those with the Sniper ability. However, it might be an advantage that this card has that speed in the reverse speed ruleset. In any case, for now, this card doesn't represent a significant advantage for me beyond its low mana cost, since I don't have any Avian bloodline units in my deck that are fire and deal magic damage. So for now, we can only wait to find avian units with magic damage later on.

La baja velocidad y la poca salud de esta carta la hacen blanco fácil para unidades oportunistas o con la habilidad sniper, aunque quizás sea una ventaja que esta carta tenga esa velocidad en la ruleset de velocidad inversa. En cualquier caso por ahora esta carta no representa una gran ventaja para mi más allá de su bajo coste de mana, ya que no cuento en mi mazo con unidades de linaje Avian que sean de fuego y tengan daño mágico. Así que por ahora solo nos queda esperar a encontrar unidades avian con daño mágico más adelante.

Knowing that Voss would most likely be the first card to fall, I gave him the Poison Burst ability from the Dragon Archon, and that's how we ended the battle. In the first round, we managed to defeat the enemy's vanguard unit, but the greatest difficulty lay in defeating the wild Skok Duskblight card, which we only managed to take down in the second round. In the ensuing skirmish, the blast eliminated the third card in their lineup, and as expected, in the third round, the blast eliminated Voss by applying poison to the last enemy unit, weakening it so that our dragon in the vanguard could finish it off. In this way, Voss is an excellent unit to combine with the Archon Sheng Xiao, so that when he is eliminated, he can unleash the poison burst to weaken up to 3 enemies, if you're lucky. Next battle!

La mejor oportunidad que tuve para usar esta carta en batalla fue en una con un límite de mana entre bajo a intermedio: 28. Como presumía que mi oponente usaría unidades mágicas, decidí utilizar como tanque la carta Chaos Legion Voidmaw una poderosa unidad legendaria que tiene la habilidad Void y puede resistir ataques mágicos, ubicamos a Voss en la segunda posición ya que tiene buena cantidad de vida y en las últimas 3 posiciones usamos unidades rango. Nos arriesgamos usando Kha'zi Conjurer pero dado la baja cantidad de mana en esta batalla prioricé el daño y la velocidad.

Como sabía que Voss muy probablemente sería la primera carta en caer le coloqué la habilidad poison burst que confiere el arconte dragón y así enviamos la batalla. En el primer round logramos derrotar la unidad de vanguardia enemiga, pero la mayor dificultad estaba en derrotar la carta wild Skok Duskblight al que solo logramos dar de baja en el segundo asalto y en la refriega, el blast eliminó la tercera carta en su alineación y como esperaba, en el tercer round el blast eliminó a Voss aplicándole veneno a la última unidad enemiga debilitándolo para que nuestro dragón en la vanguardia lo eliminara. De esta manera, Voss es una excelente unidad para combinarse con el arconte Sheng Xiao y así, al ser eliminado dispare el poison burst para debilitar hasta 3 enemigos con suerte. Siguiente batalla!

The next epic card has given me good results, and in fact, I've seriously considered buying it: Wailsworn Specter. This is an extra magic card that adds to the already powerful Water-class units. Magic returns to this unit, and I didn't really miss it. I thoroughly enjoyed the all-melee/ranged Chaos Legion/Riftwatchers lineups with Coastal Sentry and Deep Lurker as the main attackers, but I won't deny that I've had a lot of fun returning to using all-magic lineups in the Modern format. Let's see why I find this card so valuable.

La siguiente carta épica si que me ha dado buenos resultados y de hecho he pensado bastante en comprarla: Wailsworn Specter. Esta es una carta mágica extra que se suma a las ya poderosas unidades de la clase agua, Nuevamente vuelve la magia a esta unidad, en realidad no la extrañaba, disfrutaba mucho las alineaciones enteramente melé/rango de Chaos Legion/Riftwatchers con Coastal Sentry y Deep Lurker como principales arietes, pero no voy a negar que me he divertido mucho volviendo a usar alineaciones totalmente mágicas en el formato moderno. Veamos entonces porque esta carta me parece tan valiosa.

The main aspects I like about this card are its average damage, which starts at level 1 at 2 and can reach 3 with the buff from the Water Archon Foundation. Secondly, we have the second epic reward card with the Bloodline Tribute ability. I found it interesting, but most cards with this ability are epic or legendary; so far, very few common and rare units have this ability. In this case, we must keep in mind that this card is of Undead lineage if we want to take advantage of its ability. Its speed isn't bad, but like Voss, it has low health, so don't get too attached to it in battle, as it's likely to be one of the first to fall when you put it into play.

Los principales aspectos que me gustan de esta carta es su daño promedio que desde el nivel 1 es de 2 y que puede llegar a 3 con el buff del arconte Foundation de agua, y en segundo lugar tenemos la segunda carta épica reward con la habilidad bloodline tribute. Me pareció curioso, pero la mayoría de las cartas con esta habilidad son épicas o legendarias, hasta ahora son muy pocas las unidades comunes y raras que desarrollan esta habilidad. Peor en este caso debemos tener en cuenta entonces que esta carta es de linaje undead si queremos aprovechar su habilidad. Su velocidad no esta mal pero al igual que Voss tiene una baja cantidad de vida así que no te encariñes con ella en batalla ya que al colocarla en batalla es posible que sea de las primeras en caer.

We're facing a battle with a generous mana limit (38) that only allows us to use magic units and summon one unit from the Wild collection. Here, we'll take advantage of our Archon Marlai Singariel to boost our magic damage, and the Wild unit we'll use is Oshannus, the legendary reward card from Chaos Legion! I still have the first copy I got; its damage, chance to dodge magic attacks, and resistance to them with its Void ability make it the ideal tanking candidate for this battle. We will use Mystic Scaleweaver to slow down the opponent while simultaneously increasing the chance of dodging magic attacks from Oshannus and Mindless Thrall.

Enfrentamos entonces una batalla que es generosa en su limite de mana (38) y que solonos permite usar unidades mágicas e invocar 1 unidad de la colección wild. Aquí aprovecharemos a nuestro arconte Marlai Singariel para potenciar nuestro daño mágico y la unidad wild que usaremos sera Oshannus, la legendaria carta rewards de Chaos Legion! Todavía conservo la primera copia que me salió, su daño, probabilidad de esquivar ataques mágicos y también de resistirlos con su habilidad Void, la convierten en el candidato ideal para tanquear en esta batalla. Usaremos a Mystic Scaleweaver para reducir la velocidad del oponente y al mismo tiempo aumentar la posibilidad de esquivar los ataque mágicos a Oshannus y Mindless Thrall.

We faced none other than a legendary Level 3 opponent: Dragonlor Mancer! That's a full league higher than us, with units at the top of the Gold League! To counter him, I decided to take advantage of Wailsworn Specter's Bloodline Tribute ability, which, being undead, shares a bloodline with Mindless Thrall. Therefore, we placed it in the first position so it would be eliminated, allowing our Mindless Thrall to boost its stats from the very beginning. In the end, everything depended on the survivability Oshannus offered us from the first to the third round, which allowed us to eliminate the first three enemy units. Finally, with greater speed than our opponent, we managed to evade their attacks and defeat them, sealing the victory.

Enfrentamos a nada más y nada menos que un oponente que esta en nivel 3 legendario: Dragonlor Mancer! Osea nos saca 1 liga completa de diferencia, con unidades al tope de la liga de Oro! Para enfrentarlo decidí aprovechar la habilidad Bloodline Tribute de Wailsworn Specter que al ser undead comparte linaje con Mindless Thrall. Por eso la ubicamos en la primera posición para que fuera eliminada y desde el primer momento nuestro Mindless Thrall aumentara sus estadísticas, al final todo dependió del aguante que nos ofreció Oshannus desde el 1er al 3er round lo que nos permitió eliminar las 3 primeras unidades enemigas y al final, teniendo una mayor velocidad que nuestro oponente logramos evadir sus ataques y derrotarlos para sellar la victoria.

In short, friends, these first two epic reward cards are teaching us one thing: how to handle the various lineages within Splinterlands' vast and rich lore. I consider this the beginning of a completely different approach to gameplay, and I absolutely love it! We're just getting started with this Conclave Arcana/Escalation card set. As Rebellion is released from Modern and the meta updates with the next card set, we'll see greater complexity in the game mechanics. This is why I'm exclusively focused on buying Conclave cards, ignoring Rebellion, as I consider them a waste of investment, given that they're already being released and the meta is changing drastically. En resumen amigos, estas 2 primeras cartas épicas rewards nos están enseñando una cosa, aprender a manejar los distintos linajes del amplio y rico lore de Splinterlands, considero que este es el principio de una manera completamente diferente de enfocar la jugabilidad y definitivamente me encanta! Apenas estamos comenzando con esta edición de cartas Conclave Arcana/Escalation, a medida que salga Rebellion de moderno y se actualice el meta con la próxima edición de cartas, veremos una mayor complejidad en los mecanismos de juego.
