Hello, Splinterlands friends! The rainy days of October are finally here, so I decided to brew a cup of coffee and sit down to update you on my immediate goals in the Modern format. This process was prompted by the Ranked mode update, which now organizes play into a bracket system where we choose the tier we want to compete in for the entire season. I wanted to be truly realistic here: the cards I’ve earned as rewards—including the Foundations set—and the ones I’ve purchased are suited for the Silver League. That is the level where I’ve decided to play, so I’ve started competing in the Silver bracket.

Que tal amigos de Splinterlands, los días lluviosos de octubre finalmente ya están aquí, así que decidí prepararme una taza de café y sentarme hacer una actualización de mis objetivos inmediatos en el formato moderno. Parte de esto se inició con la actualización del modo ranked, donde ahora esta organizado en un sistema de brackets donde elegimos en que nivel deseamos estar en toda la temporada. Aquí quise ser verdaderamente realista, las cartas que he estado ganando en recompensas, las Foundations y las que he estado comprando es para estar en la liga de plata y en ese contexto es donde he decidido mantenerme jugando, así comencé a jugar en el bracket de plata.

I have to admit I started playing immediately without paying close attention to the bracket details. At first, I advanced quickly through the lower divisions, but once I reached the Silver division, I noticed something important: I couldn't use my Level 1 Common cards. My friend @cpol realized the same thing. Since I had started seriously buying Conclave Arcana/Escalation cards—ranging from Legendaries to Commons—I hadn't paid much attention to the Commons, but now I realize the importance of having them at least at Level 2. Still, I can't complain; we’ve made significant progress with our deck of Foundations and reward cards.

Debo reconocer que comencé a jugar inmediatamente, sin ponerle atención a los detalles del bracket y en un primer momento avancé rápidamente en las primeras divisiones, pero luego cuando ya había alcanzado la división de plata note un detalle importante, no podía usar mis cartas comunes de nivel 1. Mi amigo @cpol se dio cuenta de lo mismo. Y es que como empecé seriamente a comprar cartas Conclave Arcana/Escalation desde las legendarias y las comunes, le había puesto poco interés a las comunes, pero ahora me doy cuenta de la importancia de tenerlos al menos en nivel 2. Pero no puedo quejarme avanzamos bastante con nuestro mazo de cartas Foundations y rewards.

Currently, I’m no longer investing my Glints in Common and Rare cards; they are already maxed out for the Silver League, with many heading toward Levels 6 and 7. So, I’m letting them level up naturally using the cards I get from league-up reward chests. The priority now is to complete the Epic reward cards as quickly as possible and start working on the Legendaries, of which I don't have a single one yet.

Actualmente, ya no estoy invirtiendo mis glints en cartas comunes y raras, ya están al tope de la liga de plata y muchas de ellas ya van hacia niveles 6 y 7. Así que estoy dejando que suban solas al próximo nivel con las cartas que obtengo en estos cofres de recompensa al subir de liga, la prioridad ahora es completar las cartas rewards épicas lo más rápido posible y comenzar con las legendarias de las que no tenemos ni una sola.

So, one of the great things about this system is that you earn a huge amount of Glints if you're in the right bracket, maintain a good win streak, and have promo or gold-foil cards. Given this new bracket system, our goal is to fully upgrade our deck to the Silver level—starting by upgrading common cards to at least level 2 or 3 (ideally 4 or 5), and preferably in gold foil. So, let's take a look at the cards I've purchased this week.

Entonces, una de las cosas buenas de este sistema es que ganas una enorme cantidad de Glints si estas en el bracket correcto y mantienes una buena racha de victorias y cuentas con cartas promo/doradas. Entonces nuestros propósitos ante este nuevo sistema de Brackets es actualizar nuestro mazo completamente a plata, empezando por upgradear las cartas comunes a nivel 2-3 mínimo y lo ideal 4 a 5, si es en lámina dorada mejor. Así que veamos entonces las cartas que he comprado empezando esta semana.

Let’s start with the latest legendary cards I bought last week but didn't get a chance to report on: Filthy Scavenger was the first one I chose to round out my offensive units alongside the rare Death Archon I recently bought; since it shares the Gnome lineage, it gains the Painforged ability. Next, I started buying Earth-class cards; I ran short on budget here and could only pick up Skrag the Gnaw—the second legendary reward card I’ve bought, chosen strategically for its Poison Burst ability—and Azr the Relentless, an interesting card from the Escalation set featuring Combined Attack and the ability to attack from the second position.

Comencemos por las últimas cartas legendarias que había comprado la semana pasada y no pude reportarlas: Filthy Scavenger fue la primera que escogí para completar las unidades ofensivas con el arconte de muerte raro que recientemente compré y como comparte el linaje de gnomo adquiere la habilidad painforfed, luego comencé a comprar las cartas de la clase tierra, aquí me quedé corto de presupuesto y solo pude hacerme con Skrag the Gnaw que sería la segunda carta legendaria reward que compro pero que es estratégica por su habilidad poison burst y Azr the Relentless una interesante carta del set Escalation con ataque combinado y la posibilidad de atacar desde la segunda posición.

This week, we decided to level up the cards I considered strategic and essential for keeping pace in ranked play using these common cards. The thing about this card is that it’s very good—almost too good! For starters, there are no cards with the Giant Killer ability in the current meta, so there’s little fear in using this card in high-mana battles—unless you're up against the two promotional cards, Tenrai and Suiko, which do possess Giant Killer. Because of its strategic value—specifically the Flank ability—this card has appreciated in market value, so we were only able to buy enough copies to reach level 3.

Ahora, esta semana decidimos llevar a niveles superiores aquellas cartas que consideraba estratégicas y necesarias para mantener el ritmo en el ranked contando con estas cartas comunes. El detalle con esta carta es que es muy buena, demasiado buena! Primero que en este meta no hay cartas con la habilidad giant killer, así que no hay casi temor a usar esta carta en batallas de alto límite de mana, a menos que cuentes con las 2 cartas promocionales; Tenrai & Suiko que desarrolla la habilidad giant killer. Por lo estratégico de esta carta con su habilidad flank se ha valorizado en el mercado y solo pudimos comprar las copias necesarias para el nivel 3.

The Steelshield Arbalest was the second Neutral card we bought. It isn't a card I use very often—honestly, I’ve mostly been playing with Reward cards—but I decided to pick it up to avoid repeating the mistake I made with the Doomshield Warden. I hadn't bought that one at the start of the Escalation set, thinking the price wouldn't go up, and I later bitterly regretted it. So, for now, we’re acquiring it at level 4 and will gradually upgrade it to level 5 to max it out for the Silver bracket.

Steelshield Arbalest fue la segunda carta de la clase neutra que compramos, no es una carta que utilice mucho pero es que la verdad, he estado usando principalmente las cartas rewards, así que decidí comprarla para evitar que me pasara lo mismo que Doomshield Warden que no la compré al inicio de Escalation pensando que no subiría de precio y luego me arrepentí amargamente. Entonces, por ahora la adquiriremos en nivel 4 y gradualmente la llevaremos a nivel 5 y tenerla al máximo para el bracket de plata.

Next, I started with two important cards. The first is Ballista Deadshot, a powerful Fire-class card, albeit with a high mana cost! My interest in this card lies not so much in its damage output or its random-shot ability, but rather in its "Dispel" ability at level 3, which removes any buffs from the target it attacks. Then there is Steppe Stalker; this card surprised me with its ability to slow down the enemy. Combined with other cards like Blue Wyrm Travesty, I can reduce the speed of the entire enemy lineup by up to -2. That is why I invested in a Gold Foil version—it was well-priced, and it boosts my victory bonuses.

Luego, empecé con 2 cartas importantes, la primera es Ballista Deadshot, una poderosa carta de la clase fuego pero con un alto costo de mana! Mi interés en esta carta no es tanto su daño o la capacidad de hacer un tiro aleatorio, sino su habilidad Dispel en el nivel 3 que elimina cualquier buff que tenga el objetivo que ataca. Luego tenemos a Steppe Stalker, esta carta me sorprendió por su capacidad de ralentizar al enemigo, justo a otras cartas como Blue Wyrm Travesty puedo reducir la velocidad de toda la alineación enemiga en hasta -2 por eso hice la inversión de adquirirla en lámina dorada, tenía un buen precio y así mejoro las bonificaciones por victorias.

Using the remaining funds and the cashback from those purchases, I upgraded Living Berm. It is a ranged card that I really want to take to level 5 to unlock the "Thorns" ability, so my plans for this card are just getting started. The second card is Forlorn Geomant; I couldn't upgrade it further due to a lack of funds, but I can already use it at level 2. This is just the beginning, as I only bought the legendary Archon for this class last week. Over the coming weeks, I’ll be purchasing epic and legendary cards based on priority, saving the common and rare cards for last so I can max them out for the Silver League.

Con lo que me quedó y el cashback de estas compras aproveché para upgradear a Living Berm que es una carta de rango largo y que realmente deseo llevar al nivel 5 para adquirir la habilidad thorn, así que mis planes con esta carta apenas están comenzando. La segunda es Forlorn Geomant que no pude upgradear más porque ya no tenía fondos, pero ya en nivel 2 puedo utilizarla. Es apenas el comienzo porque apenas compré el arconte legendario de esta clase la semana pasada y estaré las próximas semanas comprando las cartas épicas y legendarias en orden de prioridad y dejaré de último las cartas comunes y raras para llevarlas al tope de la liga de plata.

That wraps up the current update on my Common cards for the Silver bracket. I’m still missing almost all the Fire-class units, but I’ll wait until I have enough funds to buy the Fire-class Legendary Archon and the Core/Escalation cards—opting for regular versions if they are too expensive, or Black Foil ones if I find a good deal.

Con esto cerramos por ahora la actualización de nuestras cartas comunes para usarlas en el bracket de plata, todavía nos faltan prácticamente casi todas las unidades de la clase fuego, pero esperaré a tener suficientes fondos para comprar el arconte legendario de la clase fuego y las cartas Core/Escalation ya sea regulares si son muy costosas o directamente de lámina negra si hay una buena oferta.

We just finished this week's Brawl cycle today, with the next one scheduled for next week. This time we won 6 out of 7 battles; the interesting thing is that I used my new Archons, so I’m quite satisfied with the performance of these new Legendary Archons from Conclave Arcana, and I can't wait to complete the set with the Fire Archon.

So, we went back and bought 8 Gladius cases to keep collecting copies and reach our goal of getting all our common cards to level 8 as soon as possible.

Once again, we got exactly what we were looking for: exclusively common and rare cards, with the exception of one gold-foil common card. We made progress on the two common Gladius cards we were missing, bringing us one step closer to level 8; it’s only a matter of weeks now. As for the rares, they are all already at level 6, but the goal is level 7—especially if we use Epic Archons. In that regard, we still need to upgrade Orella Abbadon, Relenor Cleaver, and Cutter Brieze; while getting these cards to level 7 isn't strictly necessary, sometimes a difference of just one stat point is enough to secure a victory.

Nuevamente hemos tenido lo que estábamos buscando exclusivamente cartas comunes y raras con la excepción de 1 carta común de lámina dorada. avanzamos al menos con las 2 gladiadoras comunes que nos faltan, ya estamos un paso más cerca de llevarlas a nivel 8 solo es cuestión de semanas para lograrlo. En cambio las raras ya están todas a nivel 6 pero el nivel 7 en todas ellas, es la meta si usamos arcontes épicos, en ese contexto todavía faltan Orella Abbadon, Relenor Cleaver y Cutter Brieze, en realidad no es tan necesario llevar estas cartas a nivel 7 pero a veces la diferencia en 1 estadística es suficiente para lograr la victoria.

And well, since we’re wrapping up our priority goals regarding the standard Gladius cards, let’s see where we stand with the gold-foil ones. I made a few mistakes here; I burned a lot of these cards for extra Merits to speed up the process of maxing out my Gladius cards for the Gold League.

Y bueno como ya estamos culminando nuestros objetivos prioritarios en cuanto a las gladiadoras regulares, veamos como estamos con las gladiadoras doradas, aquí cometí varios errores, quemé muchas de estas cartas por más méritos para alcanzar más rápidamente la meta de mis gladiadores al tope de la liga de oro.

I ended up burning many gold-foil rare and epic cards, but it’s never too late to start over; for now, we have one copy of many of the commons and a few others. Over the last few months, I have started hoarding the few gold-foil Gladiator cards I’ve pulled, without using Power Stones. Once I have my common and rare Gladiator cards at levels 8 and 7, I plan to invest a significant portion of my Merits in Power Stones to increase the number of these gold-foil cards, thereby helping my clan in battles that exclusively use gold-foil cards.

Así quemé muchas cartas raras y épicas doradas, pero nunca es tarde para comenzar y por ahora tenemos 1 copia muchas de ellas comunes y unas pocas comunes. Lo que he comenzado hacer en los últimos meses es acumular las pocas gladiadoras doradas que me han salido sin usar piedras de poder, cuando ya tengamos las gladiadoras comunes y raras a nivel 8 y 7 invertiré una buena parte de mis méritos en piedras de poder para incrementar así el número de estas cartas doradas y así poder ayudar a mi clan en las batallas que usan exclusivamente cartas doradas.

Alright friends, that covers our actual progress in Modern for now. We’ve reached Division 4 after upgrading the cards I bought from the market, and it feels great to experience that shift—seeing your strategies improve as you reinforce your deck with the right cards. Now we just have to wait and see how much SPS we get at the end of the season and compare it to the previous format. That said, I can tell you right now that the Glint rewards per victory are quite generous—exactly what I needed to finish collecting my Epic reward cards.
