As i understand Mr. Nobody (i have not seen it) it is better at working out the multiple timelines, that all coexist, but the notions of "choices" are wrong.

If you choose to go left, or right, or choose to stay with dad, or mom, the lifetime doesn't change much. And, you may have, in fact, gone both left and right. And it didn't really make a difference in your life. So, only with careful analysis of your memories might you find that you have both memories of going left and right.

What makes for changes is choosing a new desire for your future. (and it has to be one you expect can happen) And, this is an emotional decision. The emotion is what guides you towards your future, and brings it to you.

Like, if you are destined to meet your wife (future) you will run into her, almost no matter what you do. Like, you will meet on a connecting flight when both of you are in the same airport for only 5 minutes.

You two made an agreement to hook up in this life, before it started, and you will because universe will make it so. And the only way you really can avoid it is if you do a lot of work on yourself, and you no longer need the lessons that would have come with have a relationship with that person. And still, then you might meet that same person, who also worked very hard on themselves.

So, Mr. Nobody fails at the "decisions" part of the way time works.
