Mūnchhausen Syndrome by Proxy is also related to what you wrote here. Where a bunch of people all believe the same, and are stuck believing the same.

The big problem with covidians is that they believe what they did was good and right.
So, to break through that with just information is really hard.
Their goodness, their rightness is reliant on keeping that belief.

Many will not change their minds until people that they love start dying.
And then, all hell breaks loose.

Once that good and right belief breaks, there are going to be some very angry people.
