Inflationary money directly leads to things being made as cheaply as possible. The time scale becomes very short. Things are made to last months, as compared to gold-money, things were made to last centuries.
Bernays was an evil, evil person.
His greatest manufacturing of consent was getting women to smoke.
He paid a bunch of women to march in a parade, and then, at a certain point, light up.
So, people seeing a bunch of women ignoring social pressure, then people started thinking that the social norm was broken. Instead of it being a tiny collection of women, who were paid, and the story seen dozens of times. The silent majority was never seen or heard from.
I really really hate what this person has wrought.
