I am sad to say that it is true.
It is also, right now, pretty close to impossible to prove.
We think that physics, the laws of the universe are fixed and immutable. (they aren't, but we haven't even left earth to measure elsewhere)
And then you study invention. It is not a random event. It is a person who is able to hear those types of ideas, receiving that idea, and then building it. The Wright Brothers built the first powered airplane, but there were two others in the world who did so in the same month. All those years of studying birds, and then blam, airplane.
Also, most people do not ever run into areas where they cannot think upon. Most probably run into a situation where they can't think about something, and just blame it on them not being smart enough.
