Automated driving applications are in the dark ages.
They should not be allowed on the road.
That taxi in question probably labelled the person as "street furniture" and wasn't able to update itself when the person got up and started to move.
The taxi probably pulled over to the curb because it was sensing that something was wrong, too much energy was required to go forward, so it needed help from a human to see what was wrong.
And yes, there is someone rich and powerful pushing self driving cars.
Probably those mother WEFers who have a passion to want to get rid of humans.
Now, to make you horrified about self driving cars. The current programs IGNORE bikes. The recognize a bike and then ignore it, because the program cannot compute probable paths of the bike, so the program freaks out. (and you can't have that when you have to actually continue driving)
So, a lady was just ran over by a self driving car because she was walking a bicycle across the road. The vehicle acted like she wasn't there, it didn't even brake.
That is the current state of these self driving programs
RE: Driverless taxi runs a person over. Who could have seen this coming?
