I'll set that aside and choose a Y tile, and then add some paths
and then a player decides to hack their way through the jungle, making their own path.
The party splitting up is really bad (read boring) for half the people. You only have on GM with one set of vocal cords, so only one side of the story can unfold at a time.
It is great in stories, making the reader keep track of two things in their heads, but the reader is always engaged. The split party, one group is gaming, and the other group is talking (hopefully in another room, but usually not) or they are sitting quiet doing nothing for half the night.
