The stories to add to the "many more families relying on food banks" is that food banks are struggling. They need a lot more donations than what they are getting.
Net worth is such a horrible metric.
It relies on a person being able to sell their assets quickly, efficiently and not crashing the market.
Many people find themselves with a million dollar house… on paper.
But they really couldn't sell for that price, and the are maybe upside down given real sales prices. And they couldn't get into anything as good if they did sell because of interest rates these days.
So many people have no real worth.
Although, on paper, they might have quite a lot.
And a million dollars used to be the point to shoot for. Retire forever point.
