This subject is much more complex... but also as simple as saying or thinking "is there a better choice?"
Depression isn't really a choice, but a state you are beaten into.
Getting out of it is not easy or quick. And if you are still in the abusive situation, it is doubly tough.
It is also a self-preservation path. If you resists, fight against the abuse you get more.
If you are already depressed, looking beaten up and weak, then you are not so much a target.
Sooooo, you really need to get out of the abusive situation, and then heal.
But, when you are choosing depress you have not much ability to leave the situation.
Anyway, the way emotions work…
As you focus on your current emotion, you will attract more of it. More reasons for why you are in that current emotional state. It doesn't matter if your current state is Joy or Depression.
So, you have to purposely focus on the next higher emotion. And you have to keep moving your focus to the next higher level until that becomes the one that is dominating your life.
The really aggregating thing about getting out of depression is that the higher levels from there are anger/rage and revenge. And our society does not like the expression of these emotions. If you do not work through them in a good way, like using a bunching bag and grief work, these can lead to people being dead. So, its a no-no in our society to get out of depression.
In fact, the "anti-depressants" put people into a state of depression/numb. They are depressants.
Really bad stuff.
