How much do you need in exchange to make you not feel used?
That is the balance.

That they are elderly and disabled may make you feel like making it for less.
But what do you feel if you find that same elderly person has hit up all your friends and worked on their sympathy?

This is very important to balance out.

BTW, giving people an item for free often means they will not treasure it.
