Failure to launch?
No, a failure of a destination to launch to.
A lot has been laid at the feet of the boomer generation, but here is one that has been overlooked. The worst one.
The boomer generation DESTROYED the ladder of success.
Every rung beneath them, busted out.
A young man cannot expect, with normal effort
No, you have to be in the top 10% to get those things.
And boomers made it that way.
The boomers stayed in careers filling up all the top spots in all companies, until the next generation just gave up. They boomers never moved up or on.
Then they had to have females in the work force. Stupid boomer hippies. Yeah man, we are all for equality. Equality of making everyone's life suck. Sorry kid, now you have to wait for 2x as many people to move up so you can have a decent job.
A house has been made into THE asset... and the boomers have made sure the housing market never grew fast enough to house their kids. In fact, they got two houses, making the available pool even smaller.
The average kid of today needs a $210,000 salary to match what the boomers had as a standard salary back in the 70s. Yep, you need a extremely high paying job to do the one income, house, family thing your parent's parents had.
Along with inclusion and free love, the boomers took all constraints off of women. So now, single mommyhood is normal, and monogamous relations are rare and fleeting.
Wimminz don't need no man.
So, as a young man, why bother? If you aren't already top 20%, you have to provide a herculean effort to get a chance. Not a surety as it was in the past (work hard, and you can make it). A freekin chance. And so, most young men have no chance, and they are realizing that.
There is no booby prize.
Why even prepare to launch.
There is nothing out there worth the effort.
