There are many more, deeper reasons.

Young men aren't having sex.
Over half of them had no sexual contact in a year.
The number one motivator of young men is young women.
And if there is no chances with the opposite sex, then there is no motivation.
Why try?

Marriages are WAY down.
Marriage is a raw deal for men.
You can make a case, that for men, they are forgoing a fair trial before being sent to prison.
And getting almost nothing in return.
So, again, why try?

Another reason is small families.
The only son or daughter just has to wait for their parent's to croak before they get the house.
By the time they move out, it would already be time to move in to take care of their parents in old age.

Plus, to get a house, you have to outbid everyone who has come before you.
Unless the house has no value (like many small towns)
Your grandparents paid $5,000 your parents paid $100,000 and you need to pay $1,000,000.
Yeah, right.
