Well, from a people level, those countries have known many failed fiat currencies.
Gold is still big in their society. People know what it is and can exchange it.
(we do not have that here in the west)
From a govern-cement/Central Banks level, they are trying to play a game of who has the bigger pile/who has the most influence. There is also shenanigans being done where gold is being moved out of the west into the east. Resmelting bars in Switzerland almost around the clock and moving them.
I do not want to be a part of the Central Banks power plays.
I prefer bitcoin as a world reserve currency. And gold to be left as a pretty yellow rock.
This is not to say that gold will probably be revalued to something like $10,000 an ounce, and you can make a fortune holding it... but get rid of it before the world decides to move on from the barbaric relic.
