And like you say, it will not be some rogue govern-cement who launches a EMP (if they even exist), it will be a guy in the power station told to flicker on and off the power a bunch of times. (of course, this will fry at least part of the power system, and a lot of electronics)

It will not be some nation deciding make a gold backed dinar that takes down the financial system. It will be done from within. And the Economist has showcased exactly how it will happen.

The magic comes from the people building better systems outside of the control of the rots-children.
