You have forgotten the main use of money. As a means of keeping track of exchanges.
Even in prisons, where money is banned, there is "money". Something is money.

Even after free energy AND the mechanization of many, many creation processes
there will still be scarcity, rarity.

There is one big difference, when people are mostly self sufficient, having their own power source and their own food, then one can just choose to not get involved with bad trades, including using bad money.

In the future, energy will be plentiful.
However, artisans and inventors are still but a handful of the populous.
And so, their goods will need to be bartered for.

And to aid that exchange, we will have some form of money.

That said, bitcoin is only a small step towards what money could be.
Such as, the money should spring into existence when an artisan creates an item that is sellable.
and the money should cease to be when that artisan gets back an equivalent of goods.
(and there will be lots of things in the middle. But, that is what we have computers for)
