Lightning is SOOOO much easier, to the point of being fun, in a digital media.

If you wanted to do lightning in a pencil drawing, you basically start with the lightning, drawing around it, then shading it, then trying to draw the actual drawing around that.
Not much better in paints

Cheat and use gauche? Then you can't do the halo as easy.

BUT! with digital drawing you can just add a layer, grab your glowy brush, and go to town.
Then, F-in change it! Erase it, draw some new lines. Move the whole damn thing.
Delete it all if it wasn't as cool as you thought.

AND THEN! You can adjust the lighting (not lightning) on all the characters in the drawing.
Supposed to be dark and gloomy in this corner and bright light over here? Easy peasy. Just add filter mask and draw a gradient. Two clicks that would have had to have been pre-planned for your drawing, and then painstakingly shaded in.
