One side is trying to stick to the letter of the law, and the other doesn't care about the law except in that it works for them.

I really think we should have a new kind of voting.
Voting that means you have skin in the game.

Such as, voting for which things get funded?
Well, when a person fills out their 1040, they should also fill out a form of which branches of govern-cement should get that money. And if a bureau doesn't get a minimum amount it is shut down immediately.

Going to war? It should be voted on by those who will die fighting it.
Active, reserves and veterans.

Further, laws that govern us should be passed by a 90% vote.
Because if 90% of the people aren't already following it, it isn't a law.
