In the future this is solved by "families" (you might call them corporations, or cooperations)
Where a group of people live and work in an area and they support each other and flourish together.

So, there is a definite advantage to making sure every member of your "family" stays fed because there is a direct benefit to the person doing the farming (which will be everyone).

Today, there is only a tenuous link to making sure everyone gets fed.
A society that lets people starve becomes a very violent place.
And so, the reason why is to maintain a peaceful system.

But, since there is no connection from the inputs to the outputs,
socialists can think that all food comes from the govern-cement-farm-grocery store.
That you just have to give people more money then everyone will have food.

The socialists can't logic.
Nor have they ever seen the system that brings them food.
They have no idea how tenuous a thread their lives live by.

So, the feeling that everyone should get fed is a good one.
They just can't put 1 and 1 together and see that they are asking someone else to give up their life(s) to provide that food.
